Jena Little Giants runners up at Super Bowl

The Jena Giant high school football team isn’t the only Jena Giant football team that has made a name for itself in area football. The Jena Little Giants 9-10 year old team were runners-up in their age division at the Red River Youth Football League’s Super Bowl last month after winning most of their 12 games this season after no wins last year.

The league is based in Rapides Parish and included teams in the surrounding area. The 9-10 yearold team is only in their second year of league play after forming in 2017. They competed against six other teams. There was also an 11-12 year-old team for the first time in 2018.

“Both of our teams had a great year and gained a lot of experience,” Head Coach Talmadge Jenkins said. “We the coaches would like to thank the players for their hard work and the effort they showed through the year. The experience they gain in this league is something that they will take to the next level. The teams consisted of players from last year and a number of new players that joined this year. We are wanting the team to grow each year and we are looking for more kids to join our returning players. We can’t wait until next season.”
