Jena native holds book signing event

Christie Collins Lypka recently released her new book, “Sunshine Through the Rain”, which is now available through Barnes and Noble and Amazon. The book is set in Jena and Olla and there are several locals mentioned in the book.

Last Tuesday afternoon, Lypka held a book signing event at the LaSalle Parish Library, where she got to renew friendships with many of her former classmates from the JHS Class of 1986.

“The book signing was a chance to not only sale some books but a wonderful opportunity to re-connect with old friends. Being in Jena felt like coming home. The town will always hold a special place in my heart,” stated Christie, adding her thanks to everyone who attended the event.

Here is a synopsis of the book:

“Sunshine through the Rain follows Christie Ann Cook, a cynical, wise-beyond-heryears, truth-telling young girl who is coming of age in the Deep South during the civil rights movement, women’s rights, and Roe v. Wade. Christie narrates her story mixing equal measures of drama and humor.
