Six Delta parishes named unhealthiest in La.

A recent study by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation notes the six northeast Louisiana parishes along the Delta which are deemed the unhealthiest in the state in which to live.

The study also says high housing costs can make it tougher for families to get better quality food, transportation, and medicine. LaSalle Parish was ranked as the #17 healthiest parish in the state, according to the study.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute released their annual report of the top 10 unhealthiest parishes.

East Caroll Parish ranked the worst, followed closely by Morehouse, Madison, Catahoula, Tensas, & Concordia Parishes. (View the complete list at the end of this story.)

Tensas Parish has the shortest life span of 45, according to the study.
