LaSalle retail sales set new record

LaSalle Parish is not only booming in construction projects, but retail sales for the first quarter of 2019 shows a record breaking year beginning with sales up 40-percent for the first three months of the year, according to figures just released by the Concordia Parish Sales Tax Collection Agency.

Jon Betts, representative of the agency, noted that a portion of the January sales tax collection was due to payments for materials for the new sawmill near Urania, but “overall retail sales in the parish are up quite a bit.”

Sales tax collections for the LaSalle Parish School Board and LaSalle Law Enforcement District showed gains of 40-percent during the first three months of the year, the town of Olla recorded a whopping 50-percent increase in retail sales and the town of Jena had a 10-percent increase in sales tax collections.
