Buckle up in your truck, or pay the consequences

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and law enforcement officers across the state are issuing a warning to pickup truck drivers and passengers - buckle up in your truck or risk paying a fine of at least $50.00.

Buckle Up in Your Truck is a special Louisiana enforcement wave that focuses on pickup truck occupants who are not wearing their seat belts. The fine for not wearing a seat belt in Louisiana is $50.00, and subsequent offenses carry a $75.00 fine plus court costs.

“Wearing your seat belt is absolutely the number one thing you can do to protect yourself from serious injury or death in a crash,” Freeman noted. “That’s especially true if you’re driving or riding in a pickup truck.”
