Jerry Lynn McCartney Etheredge, 83, of Olla, passed from this life on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born December 6, 1935 in LaSalle Parish to the union of her parents, Quincy Luke McCartney and Robbie Waggoner McCartney.

Jerry was a lifelong faithful member of Pine Hill Baptist Church and she was a 1954 graduate of LaSalle High School in Olla. She made her lifelong career as a homemaker and mom.

She was very dedicated to the care of her family. She is well known for her love of cooking and making sure no one around her was hungry. She was fierce in her love for her family and service to her Lord. She served the verses well in Proverbs 31:10-31. Praises to a virtuous woman.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, from the sanctuary of Pine Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Smith officiating. Rev. Stacey Pitman delivered the eulogy.

Interment followed in the Pine Hill Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Bell; and her late husband, Leon.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, two sons, Leon Etheredge, Jr, and Rickey Etheredge, both of Olla; her daughter,  Cheryl Ruddell of Olla; two grandchildren: Nathan Ruddell and wife Rudi of Olla and Hannah Ruddell Black and husband Jason of Sterlington; one great-grandchild, Annistyn Kate Black.

Pallbearers were Mike McCartney, Keith Ruddell, Dan Veuleman, Steve Pennington, C. H. Boyd and Mike Dunn .

Honorary pallbearers included Pete Henderson and Steve Barbo.
