Quentin Theo Ates

Quentin Theo Ates, 82, of Georgetown, passed from this life on Sunday, May 12, 2019.

He was born October 5, 1936 in Urania.

Quentin was a retired roughneck for Penrod. He was an ordained deacon of Georgetown Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with family and had a love for fishing. He truly had a servants heart and helped everyone he could, including helping with the new construction of Georgetown Baptist Church buildings.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, at Georgetown Baptist Church with the Revs. Carl Griffith, Tommy Hollis and Lamar Carpenter officiating.

Interment followed in the Hawthorn Cemetery of Little Creek under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur William Ates; mother, Iva Jameson; brother, A.W. Ates; and sisters, Artha Mae Stamper, Lilly Mae Ates, and Quentis Bruce.

Those left to cherish in his memory include his wife, Bobbye Davidson Ates of Georgetown; son, James Darrel Ates of Winnfield; daughters, Karen Dawn Edwards of Georgetown, and Deirde Deneen Carter of Pollock; grandchildren, Christi Wyatt, Ryan Ates, Dustin Roberts, Brooke Fisher, Matt Roberts, and Peyton Privett; great grandchildren Marleigh, Kayleigh, Zoey, Landry Kate, Kelsey, Gannon, Jude, and one on the way.

Pallbearers were Dustin Roberts, Matt Roberts, Ryan Ates, Darren Fisher, Nakia Wyatt, and Joey Smith.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Georgetown Baptist Church Building Fund.
