Grandson of LaSalle native gets coveted baseball award

Josh Young was just named to the Conference USA All Freshman baseball Team, but he didn’t get there  the usual way. He is the son of Dr. Jay Young and Natalie Plunket Young of Maryville, Tennessee, and the grandson of June Basham Plunket, a Jena native. He has two brothers, Jared and Jacob.  

Josh was a baseball player/pitcher at William Blount High School in Maryville, TN (just outside Knoxville), and graduated in 2017.   In fact,  he was a very successful pitcher until a torn labrum sidelined him his entire Senior high school baseball season.  

In 2016, he had been all county and all district in baseball and was named a 2017 Perfect Game Pre-Season All American and All Region player.
