Mary LaVerne Adams

Mary LaVerne Gough Adams, 91, of Sikes, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at the Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield following an extended illness.

She was born May 22, 1928 at Hinton Camp, Louisiana, to the union of her parents, Ed and Edna “Little Maw” Gough.

She was a lifelong resident of Winn Parish, a faithful member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She married the love of her life, Hubert Adams in 1949, and they spent 70 years as man and wife.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 5, from the Olla chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Rev. Stacey Pitmon officiating.

Interment followed in the Shady Grove Cemetery of Sikes under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla.

She leaves behind her precious husband, Hubert Adams of Sikes; her sons, Glen Adams (Pat), David Adams (Jackie), Roy Adams (Ethel) and Donnie Adams (Dewanna); grandchildren, Shannon Adams (Amy), Allen Adams (Amie), Kristin Pelham (Matt), Sarah Barbo (Tommy), Matthew Adams, Chris Adams, Melissa Rainbolt (Tommy), Derek Lisenby, Toni Bacon (Danny), Todd Long (Nickie); her brother, John Gough (Nita); and numerous great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tracy Humphries, Larry Humphries, Tommy Barbo, Kenny Cox, Chris Adams, Derek Lisenby, Allen Adams, and Shannon Adams.
