For the second consecutive season the Jena Giants open their season on the campus of ULM as the Giants participated in the annual Bayou Jamboree. All of the top programs in Northeast Louisiana would participate in the two-day jamboree.

Last season saw the Giants pick up a 34-14 win over the OCS Eagles. This season the Giants would take on the defending class 3A state runner-up Sterlington Panthers.
