Coach McCartney who is a longtime friend of Jena head coach Jay Roark also had a big hand in the success of the Giants during his tenure in Jena. During the two seasons that coach McCartney was in Jena the Giants won 20 of 24 games and made it to the second round of the playoffs both seasons.
