Election this Saturday

Voters will go to the polls this Saturday to decide who will serve them in a variety of offices for the next four years. Clerk of Court Steve Andrews notes that polls open at 7 a.m. and will close at 8 p.m., and an ID is required when voting.

Registrar of Voters Angie Sandifer reports that early voting accounted for a record early vote of 2,031. Also, as of Monday morning, 164 of the 297 ballots mailed out had been returned. If 70% of the total 8,652 voters cast ballots for the Oct. 12 election, this would be a total turnout of just over 6,000 voters – which means more than one-third of voters have already cast their ballots.

When qualifying ended in early August, a total of 74 candidates had thrown their hats into the ring for 27 offices in which LaSalle Parish voters will be helping to decide at the fall elections.

Statewide Offices

Every statewide office holder drew opposition, with Gov. John Bel Edwards drawing the largest field, with eight seeking to unseat the one-term governor.
