The sun has not gone down on Catahoula Lake…yet

The fight over Catahoula Lake took one more step toward resolution last week; however, the sun is far from setting on this ongoing legal battle.

Last Wednesday, January 29, the Louisiana Supreme Court in New Orleans affirmed in part and reversed in part prior decisions on the “Steve Crooks and Era Lee Crooks v. State of Louisiana, Department of Natural Resources,” the case involving the privatization of Catahoula Lake.

In essence, the state’s supreme legal body ruled the lower court was correct in making most of the lake private or owned by landowners surrounding the lake but they also threw out millions of dollars worth of damages and legal fees.
