David F. Miles

David Frayne Miles, 75, was born at home in Tullos, Louisiana on November 14, 1944 to Delwood Frayne and Jewel Francis Weaver Miles.

After a long and adventurous life, he died of a heart attack on Saturday, January 17, 2020 on the Philippine island of Marinduque where he chose to live with his wife and son.

David’s life was a series of many interests and careers. After graduating LaSalle High School in 1963, he attended Northeast Louisiana for 3 years before joining the Army.

He served in Vietnam in the Military Police as a Criminal Investigator before returning home to complete a Bachelor’s Degree. He loved to fly and earned private, commercial and chief flight instructor licenses.

Using his army experience, David also owned businesses in Louisiana and Texas working as a licensed and registered private investigator.

David spent over 20 years in the Petroleum Industry on and off shore, both domestic and international working in many capacities such as Safety and Training Coordinator, Safety Officer, Driller, Completion and Workover Contractor, Roustabout, Roughneck, Derrick Man, Mud Engineer and Materials Coordinator. He retired an offshore Rig Medic having earned an EMT-Paramedic License.

Although being declared 100% disabled by the VA due to 30 years of kidney and heart issues from agent orange exposure during his military service, he never gave up checking things off his bucket list. He wanted to sail boats, so, he completed several certifications and found the Philippines the perfect place to practice his new hobby.

David was predeceased by his parents; brother, Perry Michael Miles; and sister, Jerry Nell Miles Milton.

He is survived by his wife, Efralin Pravada; sons, Matthew and Luke; daughters, Vanessa and Allyson; sisters, Carolyn and Marilyn; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

David recently posted; “Everyday of my retirement is a day at the beach”.

Enjoying the beauty of his new home in the Philippines, he requested his ashes be spread there.
