Jena Choctaws looking forward to new facilities

The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians is anxiously awaiting the completion of their new Tribal Administration Building, which is set to be ready for occupancy by the end of this month.

According to Jena Chief Cheryl Smith, the entire tribe is excited to finally have the building completed and in use.

“We are all just really excited,” the Chief said. “This 18,652 square foot building is something that we have desperately needed as our tribe continues to grow.”

The impressive, two-story facility is set to be completed by the end of March, barring any more weather delays. It is one of many projects underway in LaSalle Parish, including the new LaSalle Parish Library that is also turning heads in downtown Jena.
