Tullos tables vote on sewer rate ordinance

The Town of Tullos Council voted to table Ordinance 2020-001 to amend the town’s sewer rates for RV parks and amended deposits for non-residential customers at their regular meeting last week.

After a lengthy discussion between the Mayor Karla Cockerham, Council and RV Park owner Bob Ponds during the public hearing prior to the regular meeting, the Council chose to table the ordinance to further discuss and consider the issue and the other possibilities to address it. The Council will arrange a meeting with Ponds for further discussion.

During the public hearing, Ponds said he was present not to dispute the number of outgoing gallons nor that he should pay more than a flat rate fee of $35 a month, but that the amount he would be charged according to the ordinance is too high and would put him out of business. He said he does not currently have full occupancy and to be fair should be charged by the gallon of use rather than a flat rate per spot.
