Love story inspires local film maker

Local filmmaker and Olla native Jessi Norwood had her short film, Summer Reins, accepted into the 2020 International Christian Film Festival in Orlando, Florida, which was set for May but is now postponed.

Norwood earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Digital Filmmaking from The Los Angeles Film School in November 2019 and is a 2013 graduate of LaSalle High School. She is the daughter of John and Traci Norwood of Olla.

“When I saw that I was selected into the film festival, I was beyond excited,” she said. “It’s an overwhelming feeling to know someone thinks your film is worth viewing. When you are a low budget independent filmmaker and you shoot short films, a chance to have that film be seen at a festival is important. Also, a few years ago I attended the International Christian Film Festival to watch other people’s films and now, years later, my short film will be a part of the festival. It’s the best feeling in the world.”
