Tullos couple approaches 70 years of wedded bliss

Tullos residents J.C. and Rose Harter will celebrate 70 years of marriage in July that has taken them from LaSalle Parish to Guam and back again.

Rose turned 92 in February. She was born in 1928. J.C. turns 91 in June. He was born in 1929. The Harters have two sons, Carl and Tommy, and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Carl lives in Florida with his wife, Theresa, and Tommy lives next door to them.

“The women in my family tend to live to their 90s,” Rose said regarding living to her nineties. “Two of my aunts died at 90, and I have an aunt who is still living. She is 102 and lives near Oakdale. My sister was 86 when she died, but my brother and my uncle were in their 70s when they died.”
