John L. Cannon

John Lloyd Cannon, 83, of Jena, passed from this life surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 21, 2020.

He was born July 5, 1936 to the union of L.J. and Florence Cannon.

John was a native of Jena and served as a little league coach and all-star coach for many years. He served his country in the United States Navy and loved his country. He very much enjoyed his time coaching ball and being with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was a kind spirited individual with a wit about him that never met a stranger. He will be certainly missed by all who had the chance to fellowship with him.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 25, in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Mickey Hudnall and Ed Jelks officiating.

Interment followed in the Belah Cemetery of Belah under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Margaret Cannon of Jena; three daughters, Debra Heath and husband John, Karen Estabrook and husband Kenny, and Tammy Jean Hanner, all of Jena; one son, John “Blue” Cannon, Jr; one sister, Betty Sue Valentine of Jena; seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Cole Hanner, John Heath, Kenny Estabrook, William Estabrook, John Parker, and Clay Stapleton.

Honorary pallbearers were Christopher Heath, Joshua Jones, Jacob Jones, Samuel Jones, Ashton Stapleton, and Cutler Hayes.
