Why dogs live less than humans

Why dogs live less than humans

My wife and I had to make another tough decision last week on whether to have one of our dogs put to rest or watch her suffer during her final days. This was the second one in the past four months.

And, if you are a dog owner/lover, you know the pain associated with this decision. In February of this year, our outside dog, Rocky a beagle, became sick and suffered several days before we decided to have her euthanized.

About a month ago we noticed our lab, Bella, an inside dog, was losing weight and losing a lot of her stamina. In the past couple of weeks she was eating less and we could tell she was in pain, especially when she tried to sleep at night.

A visit to LaSalle Veterinary Clinic on Wednesday of last week confirmed what we had suspected. Bella was very sick with lymphoma and Dr. Macy Tullos gave us the bad news. She maybe had two months to live, but the pain would continue to increase.
