COVID-19 Update: 2nd death reported

Despite having some of the lowest COVID-19 positive cases in the state, LaSalle Parish’s recent increase in numbers has LaSalle Parish Sheriff and Homeland Security Director Scott Franklin urging residents to get back to proper sanitation.

“We’ve relaxed,” Franklin said. “For a large majority of our population we have stopped using hand sanitizers and using the precautions we used back in March and this, I believe, has resulted in our recent increase in our numbers.”

The Louisiana Department of Public Health has LaSalle Parish listed with 174 positives as of July 22, but as the sheriff continues to point out, that is not an accurate number.
