Jena told to abandon Belah gas service line

Jena Mayor LaDawn Edwards was notified by letter last Thursday that the town of Jena must abandon the gas service line to the Belah Community by November 16 or face regulatory sanctions as deemed appropriate by the Louisiana Office of Conservation.

The Town of Jena had asked the state for permission to continue operating the gas system for the Belah area until at least April 1, 2021.

“We wanted to continue servicing Belah at least through the winter, and that’s what we submitted to the state in August,” she said.
