LaSalle delegation ready for special session

LaSalle Parish’s senator and representatives were in Baton Rouge Monday to begin a special session where several of the items on the 70-item agenda are directed at changing Gov. John Bel Edwards’ mandates and allow Louisiana to open up and get back to “normal.”

All three have heard from their constituents during the past seven months and say they understand the frustrations associated with the governor’s mitigation rules.

“The thing that I’ve heard the most is people are angry about the inability to make contact with their loved ones in nursing homes,” Riser said. “Now, the nursing homes are simply going by what the executive order says because they can lose their license if they don’t, but what we’re seeing is those in the nursing homes are basically starting to lose hope.”
