David N. Cooper

David Nathan Cooper, 63, passed from this life on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.

He was born April 9, 1957 to the union of his parents, Ray and Billie Cooper.

David was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his lifetime. He spent 46 years of his life on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico and other places around the world. You could find him at home in the hay fields or tinkering around in his shop.

He had the greatest love for his dear wife Tammy. He and Tammy would spend their days around their home or traveling to various places together. His heartbeat was his grandchildren. He loved them with every fiber of his being.

If you looked up Pawpaw in the dictionary, David’s face would be there. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Trinity Baptist Church, east of Jena, with the Revs. Mike Russell and Tyler Stevison officiating.

Interment followed in the Jena Cemetery, east of Jena, under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray Cooper, Jr; grandparents, Hayden Burlew, Sr. and Louella Burlew.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and faithful wife, Tammy Cooper; daughters, Stacy Turnage and husband Charles, Tracy Cooper, and Kayla Womack and husband James; grandchildren, Bailey and Tate Turnage, Madison, Molly, and Macy Wiley, Camden, Paisley, and Oaklen Womack; sister, Shelia Cooper Mason and husband Kenny; a host of nieces and nephews, family members, friends and co-workers.

Pallbearers were Scott Bass, Alvin Sanson, Joe Davis, Jory Goeggle, Justin Goeggle, Jonathan McClendon, Wayne Cooper and Jr. Crawford.

Honorary pallbearers were grandsons, Tate Turnage, Camden Womack, Oaklen Womack; sons-in-law, James Womack and Charles Turnage; friends and co-workers, Gabe Sellers, Chase Bates, Pete Prudhomme, Jeffrey Estes, Donnie Cooper, all of the workers at LLOG Corporation and the West Neptune rig, Henry Granger, John Goeggle, Jr., George Beard, Mark Moore, Mark Taylor, Roger Wilson, Eddie Brown, Andre Morace, Barney Johnson, David Burlew and Eddie Burlew.
