R. Douglas Tubre, Jr.

Richard Douglas Tubre, Jr., 81, of Jonesville, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, in Alexandria following a lengthy illness.

He was born May 22, 1939 in Sulfur, LA.

Doug grew up in Oakdale, went to work at the U.S. Post Office in 1958 as a letter carrier. In 1959 he married his sweetheart, Martha Lynn Young. In 1973 he transferred to Jonesville, as a supervisor and after working in Jonesville, Vidalia, and Ferriday, where he became Postmaster, he retired in 1994 after 36 years of service.

He professed Jesus as his savior as a teenager. He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, gardening, and hunting. He loved his family, especially his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30, at Grace Baptist Church in Jonesville with Rev. Matthew Murrell officiating.

Interment followed in the Harrisonburg Cemetery in Harrisonburg under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Tubre, Sr.; mother, Wilma Johnson Tubre; brother, Charles Tubre; and sister, Ruth Tubre Tanner.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Lynn Tubre; one son, Michael Tubre and Jamie of Harrisonburg; one daughter, Deborah Tubre Bennett and Michael of Jonesville; one brother, Bill Tubre and Barbara of Ruston; one sister, Bea Tubre of Jonesville; three grandsons, Winnard Bennett and Megan, Oran Tubre and Clare, Sidney Tubre and Bailey; two grand-daughters, Mika McMillan and Wil, and MacKenzie Bennett; one great-grandson, Drake McMillan; and one great-granddaughter, Ember Bennett.

Pallbearers were Mike Bennett, Winnard Bennett, Oran Tubre, Sidney Tubre, Wil McMillan, and Steve Bourgeois.

Memorials may be made to the mission fund of Grace Baptist Church, 2900 Fourth Street, Jonesville, LA 71343.
