Walter ‘Punk’ Robbins

Walter “Punk” Wells Robbins, 81, of Jena, passed from this life on Saturday, January 9, 2021 and is now at home with his Lord.

He was born October 19, 1939, to the union of his parents, Wiley Wells and Elnora Breland Robbins.

Walter worked in the oilfield most of his life. He started out working for Justiss-Mears Oil Company as a rough neck and then a driller. He went overseas working for Trans World Drilling Co. as a company man until Chevron bought Gulf Oil out. He retired from Chevron in 2003.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 15, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Kent Hatfield officiating.

Interment will follow in the Woodland Cemetery, east of Jena, under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eugene Robbins and Marshall Robbins; half-brother, Edward Robbins; sisters, Claudell Whatley and Onita Maxwell; and half-sister, Hattie Webb.

Survivors include his devoted, loving, and caring wife, Edna Robbins; sons, Walter M. Robbins (Definee) and James Edward Robbins (Lisa); daughters, Patricia Robbins and Susan Mitchell (Steve); step-daughter, Carmon Cook (Beau); stepson, Jeffery Gorman (Shanna); brothers, Willard Lee Robbins (Glenda) and Wiley Arthur Robbins (Gwen); half-sister, Nettie Franks (De-Wayne); and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Walter also had a precious gift from God, a cat, named Tazzie that meant the world to him.

Pallbearers will be John W. Robbins, James “Butch” Hardwick, Patrick Scott, James “JD” BeVille, John R. White Sr., and John R. White Jr.
