Johnson-Joy vows set

Sarah and Carl Brannon of Jonesville and Scott and Angela Johnson of Delhi wish to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Hannah Isabella Johnson to Gavin Stewart Joy of Jonesville.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Max and Peggy Knapp of Vidalia and Clint and Charlotte Johnson of Delhi.

Back-2-School drive underway

In coordination with A.P.P.L.E.S. for needy children in La- Salle Parish, the La- Salle Parish Ministerial Alliance is sponsoring a “Back 2 School Drive” for school supplies.

Items to be accepted, new or like new, include: tennis shoes, any size/sex; clothing, any size/sex; new socks, any size/sex; and basic school supplies.

The early years

I guess most people remember the time they spent in kindergarten. Not much was expected of you and there were always lots of cookies. Line up, go this way, go that way and nap time. That’s all you needed to know to get by.

When my grandmother broke her leg and could no longer watch me I had to go to kindergarten. My mother knew everybody in Alexandria and had found a nice little kindergarten for me. She would drop me off in the morning then pick me up after work. It was boring but the girls there were real nice and I especially liked the cookies.

Very Special Summer Camp at CCC

The fourth annual Very Special Summer Camp for students with special needs, hosted by the Centennial Cultural Center (CCC) in Olla, was held last week at the center and the Dixie Center’s courtyard.

The camp hosted students from around the parish and included many activities such as painting, games, crafts and more. Those helping with the camp range from special education teachers and paraprofessionals to parents, local youth and CCC employees, board members and volunteers.

Adriann Leigh Holley

Madison, Emmalee and Hunter Holley are proud to announce the birth of their baby sister, Adriann Leigh Holley.

Adriann arrived on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Rapides Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Alexandria, weighing 6-pounds 10-ounces and measuring 19¾-inches in length.

At 7:20 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017, an 8-lb 4-oz, 20 inch Benayah David Schopp said, “Daddy, mommy has done her part and now I’m set and ready, open the gate and let’er buck, I’m ready to enter the arena they call ‘life’ and make my first ride.

“I’ve got your grit in me but I sure have been lookin’ forward to shaking your big hand, course you’ll have to give me just a finger for awhile to hold but you just wait, we’ll be arm wrestling soon.
