Retail sales set record

Retail sales in LaSalle Parish went through the roof during the year just ended recording a whopping 23-percent gain over the previous year, according to figures just released by the Concordia Sales Tax Collection Agency.

LaDawn Edwards was administered her oath of office as new mayor of Jena by LaSalle Clerk of Court Steve Andrews during a special ceremony on Monday, December 29th, at the Jena Municipal Building. LaDawn’s mother, Maxine Cooper, holds the Bible while the oath was administered. Edwards assumed duties as mayor on Thursday, January 1, 2015.
