Linda Mason Whatley

Linda Mason Whatley, 69, of Jena, passed from this life on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the LaSalle Nursing Home of Jena. She was born October 26, 1943 in Jena to the union of her parents, Orville Jay and Myrtle Williams Randall. Linda was a homemaker. Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Clark Palmer officiating. Interment followed in the Randall Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Vonda K. Weems. Survivors include her husband, James “Melvin” Whatley of Jena; one son, Richard Terral and wife Angie of Nebo; a sister, Virginia Moore of Tioga; and two granddaughters, Sarah Davis of Nebo, and Brandy Bruce of Ball. Pallbearers were David Moore, Kyle Moore, Johnny Sikes, Paul Smith, and James Francis.

Betty J. Enterkin, 78, of Jena, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at the LaSalle Nursing Home of Jena. She was born April 3, 1935 in Jena to the union of her parents, James Monroe and Clhoe McVay Enterkin. Services were held at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, at the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Chaplain Clyde Gammon officiating. Interment followed in the Jena Cemetery near Jena under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. Survivors include one niece, Diane Nugent; and three nephews, Mark Enterkin of Meridian, MS, Buddy Enterkin and Curtis Hudnall.

Willard Houston Vickers

Willard Houston Vickers, 61, of Jena, passed from this life on Friday, October 4, 2013, in Alexandria. He was born Monday, December 31, 1951 in Jena to the union of Charlie Ray and Amret Azzie Girlinghouse Vickers. Houston was a compressor mechanic in the oilfield industry. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 6 in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with Bobby Shilling officiating. Interment followed in the Woodland Cemetery near Jena under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc. of Jena. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Billy Vickers and Charles Raymond Vickers. Survivors include his son, Jermey Vickers and wife Amanda; his daughter, Katina Ruth Vickers Koehler; two brothers, Danny Vickers and Marvin Vickers; two sisters, Verlan Evans and Valyre Berry; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jermey Vickers, Maddison Vickers, Marvin Vickers, Jayson Evans, Brandon Vickers, J. R. Vickers, A. J. Vickers, and Jackie Berry.
