Theresa Diane Shelton

Theresa Diane Shelton, 64, of Pollock, passed from this life on Monday, January 6, 2020, at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania.

She was born January 20, 1955 in Harrisonburg to the union of her parents, Alton and Helen Johnson.

Theresa loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as playing on her phone, fishing and most importantly, taking care of others.

Services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8 from the sanctuary of Restoration Church (formerly Tullos United Pentecostal Church) in Tullos with the Revs. Elzie Johnson and Jerry Johnson officiating.

Interment followed in the Chickasaw Cemetery, east of Olla, under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia/Olla.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Johnson; her husband, Ronnie Shelton; brother, Lamar Johnson; and daughter-in-law, Christy Shelton.

James Grady Corley

James Grady Corley, 81, of Olla passed from this life on Sunday, January 12, 2020, in Olla.

He was born May 14, 1938 in Rogers, to the union of his parents, Grady Grover Corley and Cornelia Allen Corley.

Those left to cherish in his memory include his stepson, Ronnie Zeagler and wife Donna of Olla; sisters, Johnnie Whatley of Nebo, and Jeanette Thompson of Archie.

Arrangements were handled by Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.

Anita Crouch Poole, 89, of Monterey, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10, at Eva Church of God in Monterey with Rev. Lloyd Trisler officiating.

Interment followed in the Eva Church of God Cemetery of Monterey under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Brunston Edgar Poole; and daughters-in-law, Mary Money Poole and Alma Cox Poole.

Sammie Nell Armour

Sammie Nell Armour, 81, of Jena, passed from this life on Friday, January 3, 2020.

She was born August 30, 1938 in Jena to the union of her parents, Sam Phillip Hopkins and Elemena Currington Hopkins.

Sammie attended and graduated from Jena High School, a member of the Class of 1956.

She worked for Belden Wire and Cable Co.as a supervisor for many years. She also worked many years for LaSalle Golf and Country Club in the Pro Shop.

Her memory will forever be in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she adored.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 5, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Gary Norris officiating.

Interment followed in the Woodland Cemetery, east of Jena, under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena.

David L. Henderson

David Leonard Henderson, 27, of Olla, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in Hardtner Medical Center of Urania, surrounded by his loving family.

David was born November 13, 1992 to the union of John Wesley and Tammy Faye Carter Henderson.

David had many hobbies he enjoyed, including Legos, collecting teddy bears, drawing, and just being outdoors. David was a very kind and gentle young man that will be greatly missed by all who had opportunity to meet him.

Services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, January 13, at Summerville Baptist Church in Summerville with Rev. Jesse Henderson officiating.

Interment followed in the church cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena.

Lucille H. Bond

Lucille Hudnall Bond, 93, of Jonesville, entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.

She was born in Jonesville on April 29, 1926, to the union of Henry Hudnall and Pearl McClure Hudnall.

Mrs. Bond was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesville and worked in the grocery business for over forty-five years, thirty-five of those years employed by Ford’s Food Center as a cashier and office worker.

A service celebrating her life was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 12, at the First Baptist Church in Jonesville with Reverends Gary Norris and Ralph Webber officiating.

Interment followed at Galvin’s Creek Cemetery in LaSalle Parish, under direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Jonesville.

Juanita Cockerham Allen, 83, of Jena, passed from this life on Friday, January 10, 2020.

She was born April 5, 1936 in Little Creek to the union of her parents, Dewey Cockerham and Audie Ganey Cockerham.

Juanita was employed at LaSalle General Hospital for 20 years. She loved reading, cooking, word puzzles, and her grandchildren.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 13, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Joel Johnson and Scotty McDowell officiating.

Interment followed in the Chalk Hill Cemetery in the Little Creek Community under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O. K. Allen; and her parents.

Steven Francis Zarnowski, 71, of Monroe, passed from this life on Monday, December 23, 2019, at the Overton Brooks Veterans Administration Medical Center in Shreveport.

He was born March 6, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York.

Steven was a longtime member of Rowland Road Baptist Church of Monroe. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the war in Vietnam. He retired as manager of the West Coast Region of Bax Global Air Freight.

Memorial services were held Friday, Dec. 27, at Rowland Road Baptist Church in Monroe with the Revs. Norman Bryant and John Yates officiating.

Arrangements were under direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe.

Survivors include wife, J. Elaine Enterkin Zarnowski, a native of Jena; sister, Barbara Kolonoskie (Gary); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Jessie Andrew Poole, 65, of Natchitoches, and a native of LaSalle Parish, passed from this life on Friday, January 3, 2020. He was born December 3, 1954 to the union of Moses Andrew Poole and Louis Marie Jenkins Poole. Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Tony Bell officiating. Interment followed in the Randall Cemetery of Aimwell under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish in his memory include his sons, Jessie David Poole and wife Corey of Natchitoches, Jacob Andrew Poole of Hammond, and Joseph Bradley Poole of Shreveport; brothers, Sherwood Moses Poole of Crowville, and Glen Eric Poole of Winfield; sisters, Marjorie Taylor of Branson, MO, and Betty Miller of Athens; and grandchildren, Jessica and Jaden Poole. Memorial donations may be made to the March of Dimes.

Those left to cherish in her memory include her sons, Mike Armour and wife Josephine of Duncan, OK, and Greg Armour and wife Sheri of Tyler, TX; daughter, Deborah Jones and husband David of Jena; brother, Donald “Duck” Hopkins of Jena; sister, Nedra Jean Moore of Haughton; 11 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
