Patrick ‘Scott’ Feaster

Patrick “Scott” Feaster, 47, of Hickman, Tennessee, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at his home in Hickman. Scott lived in Jena with his parents from 1973 to 1980, when his father was manager of Belden Corporation.

He was born in Franklin, NC on January 14, 1969 to Brenda Carol and Charles R. Feaster. He graduated from Monticello High School in Monticello, AR.

Scott was a loving husband and devoted father. He was a hard worker and was always trying to improve himself and make a better life for his family. He loved to fish, and it didn’t matter where it was just as long as his family was right by his side. He also loved his motorcycle.

Scott was regional manager for Goodyear in Lebanon, TN and worked for three years in Afghanistan with a military contractor.

Angela P. Couch

Angela P. Couch, 69, of Jena, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at her home.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, at Calvary Heights Baptist Church in Jena.

Interment followed in the Taylor Chapel Cemetery near Summerville under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Powell and Helen Powell.

Survivors include her husband, R. V. Couch; children, David Boyett, Tammy Dunaway and husband Randall, Denise Mannon and husband Charlie, JoAnn Gauthier and husband Kevin and Amanda Dupuis and husband Jeremy; 30 grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Cameron C. Carr

Cameron C. Carr, 80, of Georgetown, passed from this life on Sunday, January 8, 2017, at the Canterbury House in Alexandria.

He was born August 25, 1936 in Monroe to the union of his parents, Sylvester and Rosie Byrde Carr.

Cameron served in the U.S. Merchant Mariners. He retired as an electrician with the State of Louisiana, and attended Dry Prong First Baptist Church. His hobbies included songwriting and music and in his earlier years he had a band.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Frank Autry officiating.

Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, west of Columbia, under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ronald Carr, Ernest Carr and Horace Carr.

James L. Barron

A military memorial service for James Lester Barron will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the home of James and Glenda Barron, 365 Harvey Bradford Road in the Nebo Community.

All family and friends are invited to attend.

James passed from this life on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 at his residence. He was born April 30, 1950 in Jena to the union of his parents, George Lee and Vera Yule Barron.

He was a Vietnam veteran where he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Martha Mills Crain

Martha Loried Mills Crain, 86, of Grayson, and a native of LaSalle Parish, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia Heights.

She was born September 9, 1930 in Trout to the union of her parents, Mick Mills and Eunice LaCroix Mills.

Loried was a homemaker who attended Bellview Baptist Church. She will be remembered as being a great mother and grandmother. She was instantly loved by those she met and she was well loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Clarks Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 6, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Shane Duke officiating.

Interment followed in the Welcome Home Cemetery, just east of Grayson, under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.

Spencer Gregory Evans, Sr., 60, of Trout passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016.
 
He was born October 26, 1956 in Monroe to the union of his parents, Silas Graham and Bernice Woolsey Evans Hartley. He was raised by Joseph William “Bill” Hartley.
 
Services were held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, at the Magnolia Community Church in Nebo.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas Graham Evans, Bill and Bernice Hartley; a granddaughter, Aubre’ Anna Evans; a nephew, Teddy Ray Hartley; an uncle, Stanley Dupree; an aunt, Denell Dupree Hartley; a sister-in-law, Suzie Hartley; and his father and mother-in-law, Johnny Lee and Betty Cruse.

Helen Elizabeth Kirkham, 91, originally from Olla, passed away from this life on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Arbor Lake Nursing Home in Farmerville, surrounded by her loving family.
 
She was born December 5, 1925 near Olla.
 
Services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church near Olla with Rev. Todd Whittington officiating.
 
Interment followed in the Harris Chapel Cemetery near Olla under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Johnnie Byrl Kirkham; as well as granddaughter, Kayla Cranford; grandson, Chris Callender; and great-grandson, Sean Dunn.

Steve L. Mills

Steve L. Mills, 76, of Haverhill, MA, and a former resident of LaSalle Parish, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Wingate Nursing Home in Haverhill, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Columbia, LA on January 20, 1940, the son of the late Mick and Eunice LaCroix Mills.

Steve was raised and educated in Louisiana. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1957 until 1961 and was honorably discharged. He then enlisted in the United States Army serving from 1961 until 1964 and was honorably discharged. Steve was especially proud of his son Jeffrey for serving in the U.S. Army and retiring from the military.

Steve was employed by the City of Haverhill as a Lieutenant in the Haverhill Fire Department for 34 years. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, fishing, walking in the woods, spending time at the beach and he was an avid reader. Steve loved his family and he treasured time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Carrol “Pop” Posey

Carrol Ray “Pop” Posey, 69, of Jonesville, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.

He was born September 11, 1947 in Jonesville to the union of his parents, Homer Henry Posey and Ethel Lozer Ashley Posey.

“Pop” had various occupations during his life, working as a logger and commercial fisherman and in his later years he owned a gravel truck. He was also a family man who loved to have fun, fishing, camping, and hunting.

Services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 31, at Trinty Baptist Church, east of Jena, with the Revs. Mike Russell and Edward D. Sharp officiating.

Interment followed in the Pine Grove Cemetery near Rhinehart under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Darlene Sharp and great grandchild, Jason.

Anna Regina Burgess

“A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam. And for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world. But then it flies on again, and though we wish it could have stayed, we feel so lucky to have seen it.”

It is with great sadness and sorrow that Gawan and Sherrie Burgess announce the passing of their daughter, Anna Regina Burgess.

Anna was born November 30, 1997 and passed away on November 30, 2016.

Anna graduated from Jena High School and had plans to pursue her medical degree in Homeopathic and Alternative Medicine.

All relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Anna on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church in Jena.

Pastor Jimmy Keene will officiate at the service.
