Vera Elaine Aubrey

Vera Elaine (Lil’ Granny) Aubrey, 75, of Tullos, passed from this life on Monday, June 3, 2019.

She was born March 25, 1944 in Manifest.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 6, at New Life Pentecostal Church near Manifest with Rev. David Poole officiating.

Interment followed in the Olla Cemetery in Olla under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jeddie Morris of Jonesville; Mother, Martha Coleman of Jena; and sister, Linda (Sue Baby) Brown.

Frances Cooper Wood

Frances Cooper Wood, 89, of Jena, entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Brookdale Senior Living Center, in Alexandria, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Wood was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Jena and she sang in the choir for many years. Mrs. Wood enjoyed sewing, decorating, crafts, and cooking. She will forever be missed by those that loved and knew her.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, in the chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home in Ball with the Revs. Cliff Stewart and Terry Townsend officiating.

Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park of Ball, under direction of Gallagher Funeral Home of Ball.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wood; parents, Joe and Edna Cooper.

Mickey D. Mills

Mickey D. Mills, 69, of Jonesville, passed from this life on Monday, June 3, 2019, at his home.

A native of LaSalle Parish, he was born April 20, 1950 to the union of his parents, Mick and Eunice Mills.

Mickey loved hunting, fishing, family time and supervising his chore lists. He worked in the oilfield and served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 7, at Patton Baptist Church just north of Jonesville, with Rev. Juan McClure officiating.

Interment followed in Heard Cemetery of Manifest under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristy D. Mills; son, Logan D. Mills; siblings, Dorothy Rushing, Loried Crain, Clifford Mills, Brian Mills and Steve Mills.

Nedra L. Breeland LeGrande, 60, of Jena, passed from this life on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at her residence.

Memorial services were held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 10, at Magnolia Community Church in the Magnolia Community with the Revs. Byron Norris, Larry Chapman and Ronnie Beaubouef officiating.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Troy Breeland, Jr.; mother, Mavis Anne Crawford; brother, Michael Johnson; and grandparents, Fred and Virginia Breland.

Brandi Lynn Scarbrough, 42, of Olla, passed from this life on Friday, May 24, 2019, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria.

She was born July 21, 1976.

Brandi was a wonderful, fun loving person. She loved fishing, garage sales, dancing and being a clown, life of the party and digging worms! Needless to say, there was never a dull moment when she was around.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, at Olla Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Jonathan Crist and Lamar Carpenter officiating.

Interment followed in the Urania Cemetery in Urania under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Shelton; grandparents, J.R. and Addie B. Shelton and Carl and Iona Lucas.

Preston Wallis Parker, Sr., 82, of Trout, passed from this life on Monday, May 27, 2019.

He was born January 16, 1937 in Rockdale, Texas.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 31, from the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Jeff Morea officiating.

Interment followed in the Jena Cemetery, east of Jena, under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sterling Thomas Parker of Rockdale, TX; mother, Tissie Bell Wade of Rockdale, TX; and brothers, Sonny Parker, Billy Joe Parker, and Cecil Parker.

Kathy Marie Naquin

Kathy Marie Naquin, 61, of Urania, passed from this life on Friday, May 24, 2019, at her home following a brief battle with cancer.

She was born March 9, 1958, the daughter of William Greenwood and Evelyn Pardue Greenwood of Kelly.

Kathy loved to cook. She liked to feed the squirrels and birds, camp and fish, and ride motorcycles. She will be greatly missed. She also enjoyed attending church services at Kelly Baptist Church with Brother Joe Aguillard and her church family.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 26, at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Joe Aguillard officiating.

Interment followed in Lowe Cemetery near Kelly under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.

She was preceded in death by her father, step-father, Bob; and brothers, Randy and Danny.

Otto Davis

Otto Davis, 76, of Jonesville, passed from this life on Friday, May 31, 2019, at his home.

He was born February 4, 1943.

Otto was a member of Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church, and served his country in the United States Navy. He received pure enjoyment by spending time with his precious wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 2, at Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church with Rev. Joel Ford officiating.

Interment followed in the Heard Cemetery near Manifest under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kerry Davis Byargeon; his mother, Margie Tullos; his father, William Davis; and his sister, Katie Guinness.

Evonne Jenkins

Evonne Jenkins, 62, accepted Christ at an early age and God reached out his hand for her to come home on Thursday, May 16, 2019.

She was born January 30, 1957 to the late Sterling and Joe Ree Brown-Jenkins in Utility.

Evonne was an active member of the Evergreen Baptist Church of Archie, where she attended until she made her transition. She also was a previous member of the St. Peter Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Woodrow Pellerin, Sr. when she was a resident of Jonesville.

In 1963, her family moved to Jonesville. Evonne went to Jonesville Consolidated School, and later moved to Jena, in 1968. She graduated from Jena High School in 1974.

After graduating, she served in the military for 20 years, and retired from Camp Beauregard Unit 1087 Transportation Company.

Waylon Drake Lollar

Waylon Drake Lollar, infant son of Garrett Kevin Lollar and Jessica Yvonne Walters Lollar, was stillborn on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the St. Frances Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 24, at the Urania Cemetery in Urania with Rev. Cory Fowler officiating.

Interment followed under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia and Olla.

He leaves behind his loving parents; a brother, Brentley Wyatt Lollar; his grandparents, Michael and Dorraine Walters of Olla, and Kevin and Sandra Lollar of Jena, and Martha Roberie of LeCompte; aunt, Michelle Goodman of Olla; and two cousins, Lukas and Kolton Goodman.
