A true lesson in patience

By Morgan Tarpley Smith

“Patience is a virtue” is not a saying to be taken lightly nor is patience easy to come by for us especially with one of the most important parts of our lives – our children. Online this week, I came across one of the best examples of a parent’s patience with their child when they had an accident in a public place. I wasn’t the only person impressed by the action, but a woman witnessed it and wrote about it on Facebook, praising how the father handled the situation.

As a parent, I really want to be as mindful of my child’s mistakes and my own reactions/emotions to show my child this much grace when he or she makes a mistake. This is a great reminder of the lessons we can teach our children when we remain calm and use the moment to help and teach rather than hurt with our words and actions.
