For the third year in a row the Jena Giants played for a district championship on their home field this past week. Two years ago the Giants defeated the Peabody Warhorses to earn the district championship while last year the Giants lost to Marksville in the district championship.

The Giants were expected to be in this position coming into the season, as they were the favorites to win the district. Their opponent, the Caldwell Spartans, however was not expected to play for a district championship. Many people were picking Caldwell to finish at the bottom of the district standings after they had only 3 wins in the last 3 seasons combined.
