Drax Biomass announced late last week that it is relocating its base of operations to Monroe from Atlanta, Georgia. Drax Biomass purchased the German Pellet plant in Urania early last year and after undergoing extensive upgrades, the plant was put into full operation in late 2017.

It is unclear whether the move will create new jobs within the company itself, but it will bring more jobs to our area by moving existing jobs from Atlanta to Monroe. It is possible that jobs for which current employees decline to relocate will be open to local residents.
