5th annual Very Special Summer Camp at CCC

LaSalle Parish students donned lab coats and goggles last week to create robots, moon sand and more during the fifth annual Very Special Summer Camp at the Centennial Cultural Center (CCC) in downtown Olla. The camp hosted special needs students from around the parish and included many activities such as painting, games, crafts and more. The camp was called “Very Special Science Camp” this year. Those helping with the camp range from special education teachers and paraprofessionals to parents, local youth and CCC employees, board members and volunteers. Students participated in a range of activities from crafting robots from plastic bottles and edible dirt cups with Oreos and chocolate pudding to planting seeds and creating moon sand and more.


Each student wore scientist’s goggles each day and a scientist’s lab coat that they brought home after the camp.
