The Jena Sweetees came home from the state tournament in third place

The Jena Sweetees came home from the state tournament in third place, but members were equally proud of the Best Sportsmanship Award presented to them during the event. Team members shown include: front row, Zeniyah Morrison, Jaidyn Jones, Brinlynn Wallace, and Hadley Hanner; middle row, Bre Walker, Callie Hunter, Claire Williams, Harley LeMay, Jaynie Mason, Milly Dorton, Kortlyn Sloan and Tenley Maxwell; back row, Carwen Jones, Carr Hunter, Adam Williams, and Head Coach Kristy Hayman; and back row, Coach Kristy Hayman said whether the players were infield or outfield, it took everyone of them to make the team ready to go to state. This group of girls learned how to play together as a team and help each other. They also learned to listen to their leadership, and best of all, they would always leave the field with a smile on their face, whether they won or loss. Coach Hayman recognized Harley LeMay and Callie Hunter for the Bastrop game. Being the pitcher, Harley caught a fly ball and immediately turned and threw to Callie at first for a double play. Coach Hayman expressed appreciation to Jimmy Greer, Brittney Feeheley, Jennie Moss, Lexi Maxwell, Brittany Walker, and all the coaches. Also, thanks to sponsors: WW Trucking, Mitch’s, XTO, Jena Service Center, Homeland Bank, DK Construction, Justiss Oil, and Airport Grocery.
