The STEAM classes at LaSalle Junior High created fall paintings modeled after the Raku pottery technique. Students shown with examples of the technique are: (left to right) Gabe Lee (7th grade), Madison Foy (6th grade), Lexi Womack (7th grade) and Mercedes McIlwain (8th grade). The Raku technique is essentially when glazed ceramics are taken from the kiln while they are still glowing hot and are then placed in a material that would be able to catch fire, such as sawdust or newspaper.
