(Editor’s Note: Last week, LaSalle Parish lost one of the few remaining members of the Greatest Generation, with the death of 98-year-old Lawson Stringer of Searcy. There are few World War II veterans still living in LaSalle Parish and around the country. In an effort to honor all veterans and the service they gave to this country during one its most trying periods of time, we decided to reprint a story we printed five years ago about Stringer.
