Jena Elementary Pre-Kindergartener Marli Crooks picks up candy from her decorated shopping cart to throw to fellow JES students with classmate Adallin Montpelier behind her during the annual JES Mardi Gras Parade through the main hallways of the school. All grades participated at different times. The students pulled wagons, pushed shopping carts and carried containers of candy and beads while decked out in purple, gold and green and with many wearing masks or hats. Both students are in Teacher Amanda Mason’s class. Marli is the daughter of Blake and Leigh Ann Crooks. Adallin is the daughter of Cason Montpelier and McKinsey Cooper.
