The LaSalle Lady Tiger softball team has broken out of the gate in this early season putting the softball world on notice as they start the defense of their Class 1A State Title.
These ladies have kicked off this season with a 6-1 record. The lone loss comes at the hands of Class 4A Neville. LaSalle has early wins over Sterlington, Harrisonburg and Winnfield.
Senior pitcher Landri Campbell has carried the most innings in the circle. Last year’s State Championship team was composed of most of the starters from this year’s team. Newcomers to the lineup this year are Hayleigh Boyd, Rheese Martin, Lana Childress and Allie Murphrey.
Look for these Lady Tigers to compete for another District 3-1A Championship as they have their eyes set to return to Sulphur and the state tournament.

LaSalle 11 Harrisonburg 0
The LaSalle Lady Tigers defeated Harrisonburg 11-0 on February 22 as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Rheese Martin struck out the final Harrisonburg batter to finish off the game.
LaSalle got on the board in the first inning when Landri Campbell singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
They tallied five runs in the second inning with singles by Lana Childress and Campbell and a double by Martin.
Campbell pitched to victory. The righthander went five innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out nine and walking zero. Martin threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
LaSalle launched one home run on the day when Kinzee Nino went for the long ball in the sixth inning. In the game, the Lady Tigers collected 13 hits.
Allie Murphrey, Childress, Martin and Campbell each managed multiple hits. Childress went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead LaSalle in hits.
LaSalle also stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Hayleigh Boyd led the way with three. The girls also didn’t commit a single error in the field. Murphrey had the most chances in the field with 11.
LaSalle 12 Sterlington 6
LaSalle’s Lana Childress was clutch at the plate with runners on base driving in four on three hits to lead the Lady Tigers past Sterlington 12-6 on February 25. Childress drove in runs on a double in the third and a double in the fifth.
LaSalle grabbed an early lead, scoring on a single by Hayleigh Boyd in the first inning, a single by Allie Murphrey in the first inning, a double by Landri Campbell in the second inning, and a single by Boyd in the second inning.
LaSalle took the lead for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second, Campbell doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs and Boyd singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
The Lady Tigers tallied four runs in the fifth inning. LaSalle’s big bats in the inning were led by a single by Boyd and a double by Childress.
Campbell was the winning pitcher, going five and twothirds innings, allowing six runs on nine hits and striking out four. Rheese Martin threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
LaSalle scattered 15 hits in the game. Savannah Valentine, Campbell, Childress and Boyd each managed multiple hits. Boyd, Childress and Campbell each managed three hits to lead LaSalle.
LaSalle 12 Caldwell 2
LaSalle had no trouble on offense on March 1, winning big over Caldwell Parish 12-2. The Lady Tigers got things started in the first inning when Allie Murphrey doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the first inning, Caldwell tied things up at one when #11 doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
But LaSalle pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second, Savannah Valentine singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
LaSalle tallied five runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Victoria Pittman and Kinzee Nino, a walk by Rheese Martin and by Lana Childress.
Landri Campbell earned the win. The righthander went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out four.
LaSalle tallied 15 hits in the game. Belle Guin, Hayleigh Boyd, Murphrey, Pittman, Campbell, Nino and Valentine each racked up multiple hits. Boyd, Guin, Valetine, Nino, Campbell, Pittman and Murphrey each managed two hits to lead LaSalle.
LaSalle 8 Neville 13
The Lady Tigers lost the lead late in a 13-8 defeat to Neville on March 4. The game was tied at eight with Neville batting in the top of the seventh when #13 singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Belle Guin drove in five runners in the loss. Guin drove in runs on a single in the second, in the third and a home run in the fifth.
LaSalle got on the board in the second inning when Guin singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
They scored three runs in the fifth inning all coming by a home run by Guin.
Landri Campbell toed the rubber and lasted seven innings, allowing 13 hits and 13 runs while striking out four.
LaSalle tallied two home runs on the day. Campbell had a four bagger in the fourth inning. Guin had a homer in the fifth inning. The team managed 13 hits in total for the game. Lana Childress, Allie Murphrey, Guin and Campbell all managed multiple hits while Guin and Childress had three hits to lead the team.
