Coach Baker named to top 25 Louisiana sports list
Former Jena High girls’ basketball coach Carrice Russell Baker was named to a list of the top 25 most influential women in Louisiana sports history by The Advocate of Baton Rouge. She coached at Jena High from 1972 to 1985 and remains the state’s winningest high school coach of nearly 1,000 victories and eight state championships won at two schools.

Coach Baker named to top 25 Louisiana sports list

One of Jena High School’s most celebrated coaches, Carrice Russell Baker, was named to a list of the top 25 most influential women in Louisiana sports history by The Advocate of Baton Rouge. Baker was a girls’ basketball coach at Jena High from 1972 to 1985 and remains the state’s winningest high school coach of nearly 1,000 victories along with four state championships at Jena in a five-player format and four state championships at Winnsboro in a six-player format.
