If I ask you to name the flower in the picture described in this article most of you would say that the flower is a Hibiscus. You would be partially right. The flower that is shown is an Althea flower. This shrub, is in the Hibiscus family of flowers. I have one of these in my backyard and it is blooming right now (July 28, 2022). It started blooming a month ago and is still going strong. It will probably bloom on into November. It’s actually a double-layered flower. Althea is also a member of the Mallow family of flowers.
