St. Fred scores late to beat the Giants 26-20

The Jena Giants traveled north to Monroe this past Friday night as they took on the St. Frederick Warriors. The Warriors are a small private school that always plays good football so it would be another good test for the Giants. The Giants came into the game 0-2 and were looking to avoid their first 0-3 start since the 2009 season. The captains for the Giants were Trace Franklin, Noah Parker, Brandon Williams, and Adarian Richardson. The Giants would win the toss and defer to the second half. The Warriors would get the ball first and would go on a quick four play 63 yard scoring drive to go up 6-0. The Giants would answer with a long scoring drive on their first possession as they would go 65 yards in ten plays ending with a Zerrick Jones ten yard touchdown run to tie the game at 6-6. Both teams would have to punt on their next drives. The Giants would fumble early in the second quarter and the Warriors would capitalize as they scored on a four yard touchdown run by Michael Thompson Jr. to go up 12-6. The Giants would answer with a great scoring drive near the end of the first half as they would go 66 yards in nine plays ending with a Zerrick Jones 12 yard touchdown run to tie the game at 12. That would be the score at halftime. The second half would be an exciting one. The second half has been tough on the Giants this season as they did not score a touchdown in their first two games in the second half.
