Teen dating violence awareness meeting held

Carolyne Hoyt, the executive director of NextSTEP of Central Louisiana, Inc., spoke to the Jena Lions Club last week at the Brisket House in Jena about their award-winning Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Initiative, STEP (Specialized Teen Education Program).

About one in twelve teens experience physical and sexual dating violence, according to a 2019 Youth Risk Behavior Survey from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which is one of the reasons NextSTEP of Central Louisiana, Inc. has existed since 2005.
