I am who I am. You are who you are and this is our identity. When we were born our parents gave us a name and the government gave us a social security number. That made us unique to anyone else. If someone claiming to be me, makes a purchase in my name and doesn’t pay for it, that’s not my problem. You sold to an imposter. You should have verified the identity of the buyer before you made the transaction or refuse to make the sale. Your failure to do this will be your loss, not mine and my credit should not be affected in any way by this. Referred to as identity theft, this usually involves computer transactions. Efforts to control this type of theft are getting more difficult every year and your identity can be stolen in many different ways. No one is immune.
