Emanuel Leonard Lewis, Jr., 73, of Jena, passed from this life on Saturday, January 14, 2023.
He was born April 1, 1949 in Jena to the union of his parents, Emanuel Leonard Lewis, Sr. and Addie Williams Lewis.
Emanuel confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized by Pastor H.Y. Bell, joining the L & A Baptist Church. He graduated from Good Pine High School in 1966 and attended Southern University, Louisiana College, and later graduated from MIT with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He accepted the call into the ministry and was licensed on August 31, 1975 by Rev. Dave Mays. He worked at NASA, ExxonMobil, and Southwestern Bell. He also established Lewis Communications which operated from 1988-2010, where he provided telecommunications for military bases across the Southwestern United States and later telecommunication services for home health professionals and business owners. Some of the hobbies he enjoyed were photography, camping, fishing, computer engineering, and automobile restoration. He remembered EVERYTHING. He was easy going, intellectual, kind, family oriented and would help anyone he could.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, at The Church of Pentecost in Ball under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janice Mathews Lewis; daughters Eve Lewis Person (Devon) of Winston-Salem, NC and Wanda Hansbrough Walker of Sterling Heights, MI; three bonus children, Dereal Baker (Heidi), Robert Baker, and Cathy Baker Durham; sisters, Joyce Lewis Henderson of Baton Rouge, Patricia Lewis Hill of Mesquite, TX, Jewel Lewis Johnson of Grand Prairie, TX, and Addie Lewis Mills of Jena; two brothers, Charles Lewis (Amy ) of Baton Rouge, and Delinor (Gwen) Vantree of Hampton, VA; six grandchildren, Savannah, Jeremiah, Sydney, Levi, Eva, and Kedan; four great grandchildren, Grayson, Ryland, Ryleigh, and Jayson; five bonus grandchildren Andrew, Matthew, Christopher, Hailey and Rylee; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, family and friends.
