The Jena Giants finished up the district portion of their schedule this past week. On Tuesday, the Giants had senior night as they honored their only senior on the team, Adarian Richardson.

The Giants would play the Marksville Tigers who defeated the Giants 79-59 in the first matchup. Zy Hunter scored 37 points in the first matchup between these two teams and would look to have another big night.

In the first half, Marksville would make seven threepoint shots to take a 40-27 lead into halftime. Hunter would play excellent in the first half for the Giants as he scored 21 of the 27 Jena points. In the second half, Marksville would keep up the intensity as they would outscore the Giants 24-12 in the half to win the game 64-39.

In the game for the Giants, Zy Hunter had 29 points, Xavier Brown with three points, Blayne Shivers with three points, Adarian Richardson with two points and Amare Jackson with two points.

On Friday, the Giants would travel to Buckeye to play their final district game of the season. Buckeye always plays great defense and is tough to score on and that would be the case in this one.

Both teams would play good defense in the first half, but the Giants would have a little more trouble scoring than Buckeye did as the Panthers would take a 20-1 lead into halftime. The Giants would come out in the third quarter and would score 11 points as Zy Hunter scored six points and Adarian Richardson scored five in the quarter. Buckeye would go on to win the game 48-16.

In the game for the Giants, Zy Hunter had 10 points, Adarian Richardson with five points and Zadrien Cooper with one point. The Giants are now 2-22 overall and finished 0-10 in district. The Giants played their last game of the season on Monday as they travelled to Leesville.
