Amy and Glenn Jones are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Delaney Jones and Koby Arrington.

Friends and family are invited to attend the wedding ceremony and following reception set for Friday, May 19, 2023, at 6 p.m., at Kinley’s Kottage in Jena.

Delaney is the daughter of Amy and Glenn Jones of Jena, and the granddaughter of Iris “Elaine” Jones of Jena, the late Dale Jones and the late Jeanette Everett Stanfield.

Koby is the son of Jenny and Josh Arrington of Ball and Dede James of Jena, and the grandson of Kent & Darlene Arrington of Ball, the late John James and Ollye James of Georgetown.

new business centered around next steps for the LCDBG Program Grant. The Council voted to open a new bank account for the grant. They also voted to adopt two resolutions, the LCDBG Financial Management Resolution and the LCDBG Policies and Procedures Resolution.

Additionally, the Council approved to have a Sewer Rate Study conducted. Mayor Cockerham explained that the study is a requirement of the LCDBG grant, and the last one was done in 2020.

The Council also approved of the introduction of two new ordinances, one of an amended budget and the other in regards to a Wastewater Treatment Contract with the Town of Urania.

Urania Mayor Jay Ivy was in attendance to present the updated contract. He informed the Council that both Tullos and Urania’s lawyers approved of the contract.

“We have tried to come up with something fair and simple for both towns,” stated Ivy. “The contract is just for one year so it can be changed if need be.”

The Council approved and thanked Mayor Ivy for his work on the contract and for attending the meeting.

The Council also approved of a Bond Ordinance which was introduced in the April meeting. A public hearing was held fifteen minutes before the start of the May meeting but no public comments were made.

During the fire department report, Chief Scott Cockerham informed the Council that the department had their regular business meeting and assisted Olla with a structure fire during the month of April.

Tim Lasiter then provided the police jury report. During his report, he made a request of the Mayor and Council. He stated that the wrong paint was used when marking a water line. He explained that while the color blue is usually used to indicate water, an orange paint was used instead. Lasiter requested that this be repainted, which was approved by the Council.

Chief Scott Cockerham also provided the police report. For the month of April, there was a total of $38,261.08 collected in fines and fees, including $3,170.77 collected by AMS.

During the mayor’s comments, Cockerham reminded the Council of the Tullos Farmers Market.

“I ask that each of you help spread the word that the Farmers Market is every Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m,” Cockerham said. “We need to try to increase and maintain community participation so that we can continue to offer the Famers Market.”
