The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) unexpectedly closed the railroad overpass on US 84 in Tullos last Friday causing havoc for many residents and travelers of the major thoroughfare. The main artery between Tullos and Winnfield and all connecting points beyond was severely hampered when a press release sent out Friday, May 12, around 2 p.m., from the LA DOTD said the bridge would be closed that day and will remained closed “until further notice while crews complete repairs on the bridge.” Tullos Mayor Karla Cockerham said she was caught completely off-guard by the overpass closure and was not even notified by the state.
